Main SaGia questions:

1. Do Sagians ever age?
Depending on the Sagian, yes! Some Sagians prefer to stay the same age; they must request their wish to the giant tree of Sariju.

2. Why does the Relic Device change the Sagian’s form? For example, Asai grows taller!
When the Sagian first gets their Relic Device after being born into the world and doing some training, they see a “future” version of themselves. When they feel the energy from the device, they transform into that “future” version. It explains why Asai has guns (when she normally doesn’t in her regular form) or why Haido gets boxing gloves instead of keeping her normal ones. Will the Sagians look like their future selves when they grow older? Maybe.

3. Any future arcs and series planned? Spinoffs?
I already have 2 spinoffs in mind. I do have future arcs that have titles and some characters designed while for future series, I plan to have different main characters instead of Lain. As of this writing, I’m still working on figuring things out with the Draken arc. Stay tuned for updates!

4. Are there more than one of the same Sagian?
Yes. Although not shown in the first volume, some Sagians have parents that look just like them (or some parents can look a bit different). The only Sagians who don't have parents are the Gods and Draglun.

5. What influences inspired SaGia?
Already said it in my bio on the official website. To keep it short, it started with a Pokémon ROM hack and so many old anime from the 80s and 90s I watched influenced the series: Dragon Ball (the original series, not Z), Digimon, Pokémon... and several artists inspired the art style.

6. Why is it called SaGia?
I don't know. It was originally called SaGa, but I changed it to avoid confusion with titles that share the same name. All I did was add an "i" and that's it. Wish I named it SaGians, but it sounded so weird, especially with the G capitalized. As for why the "G" is capitalized, I have no explanation! The Japanese below the logo is actually Google Translated as I have a lack of Japanese skills; it still means the same thing.

7. Was there an original early version of SaGia before this final version?
Yes, there were two drafts! The first one was titled "SaGa" and was way different, especially the character designs and story. Jikiru and Haido weren't even named Jikiru and Haido and had a different way of transforming. Zero could transform into a dragon. Lass looked way different. I drew it all on paper when I was in High School and still have the 3 volumes I drew in my binder. I never want to look back at it ever again and I have no plans on sharing it because of how embarrassed I feel. The second draft, I changed it to "SaGia" and the comic was drawn in Procreate. I think I used the Syrup pen to draw the characters. Characters are off model at times, their designs are different:
  • Jikiru has bigger eyes and Haido's eye shape is different.
  • Lain's hair and goggles are different.
  • Every character's eyes showed right through their hair when covered!
I gave up drawing Chapter 4: "Lassidy meets Rena!" (the original "Lass and the Mysterious Voice" but different) because I wasn't into finishing it. That's when I started over and began my final draft of the series that you're seeing now! I have no plans on releasing this version either, too embarrassed, sorry!

Also, SaGia was originally gonna be a video game RPG (under the original title "SaGa"), but I didn't create it because I have a lack of programming skills.

8. Will a company buy the rights to use your characters?
No, no, and no. I’m afraid of losing creative control of my original series because you don’t know what these companies are gonna do. I rather do my own thing: work on my story and develop my characters by myself.

9. Can I use your characters to sell merch?
With my permission, yes! Just don’t sell my original SaGia artworks posted on this blog (I only can do that), use images from the comic, or use the official renders of the characters; make sure your art is original and creative (redraws of a panel from the comic are fine!). If I see you making a profit using my characters or artwork without my permission, I will take action. And don’t think about selling my other non-SaGia artworks. If you see this, report it to me! About selling original, unofficial SaGia artworks at conventions (if you like doing that), you must have my permission first. Or as long as the artwork is original and creative, you’re fine. People don't want to buy bootlegs, right?

10. Can I use your characters in fan fiction or fan animations?
Yes, I don’t mind. Just don't make any slash fics or make the fan fiction/animation too violent. Don’t think about selling your fan fiction as a book or fan animation on a DVD.

11. What are your rules on SaGia fan art?
I might make a separate page about this, but here:
  1. No NSFW artwork. If I see any NSFW SaGia fan art, I will ban/block you permanently; NSFW art work makes me uncomfortable.
  2. Make sure your fan art is original and creative, and not just a copy of the official renders or artwork. A redraw of my artwork or a page of a panel from the comic are fine. Draw it in your own art style!
  3. See question #9.
  4. AI art is not allowed and I will not allow it at all. If you suspect a drawing that's on the fanart wall was made using AI, report it to me and I will take it down if I notice any AI in the artwork after inspection. I will track down the original artist and ban them.
  5. When submitting artwork to me, please do not say you are "anonymous"! People want to discover you and your artwork; I like to give people credit. If you don't feel comfortable sharing your name or username for real, let me know. Make sure to link your socials so people can find you.
  6. If you don't want your fanart on the fanart wall anymore, let me know!
12. Can I send you my fan fic?
No, sorry. I'm not interested reading other people's fan fiction. I get that some of you out there are talented writers! But, I don't want to borrow ideas from fan fiction and use it in my SaGia material; that's wrong. Keep on writing and create, I don't know, alternate universes or original characters! Just don't write any slash fics like I said in question #10.

13. Do the elements have strengths, resistance, and weakness?
Yes they do (ex. fire weak to water, water weak to nature, and nature weak to fire).

Character questions:

Main:

Lain

Lass

Jikiru

Haido

1. Okay, why is Haido acting crazy in the first volume?
I have plans on writing an origin story for her, but all I can say is, Haido might have an evil side to her. Fan fiction writers, do not write an origin story for her. I'll do it myself.

2. What's with the "dark vine" thingies Haido summons to stop Jikiru when she's crazy (as seen in Chapter 2)? Does it prevent Jikiru from taking over Haido's body?
Yes. And when Haido is fully crazy, the darkness takes over her body, and Jikiru will fade away, permanently. I know it's a scary thing for Jikiru to deal with, but Haido is trying to control her temper. You'll see when the rest of the chapters roll out.

Both Jikiru & Haido

1. What's up with them "talking to each other"?
I was inspired by the anime "Yu-Gi-Oh!" (not Season 0) where Yami Yugi would appear as this, I don't know, "ghost" and only Yugi Muto can see him and talk to him and vise versa (Muto appears and talks to Yami during duels). It's been a while since I've watched the series, but that's all I can say at the top of my head. When Haido changes into Jikiru, Jikiru can see, hear, and talk to Haido in her mind or "visions" and vise versa (which explains the dark background I made when we see both together). No one else can see the other half (ex. Lain can't see or hear Haido when Jikiru is present and vise versa).

Rena

Beauty

Asai

Others:

The Three Gods (Raiden, Flareden, and Liquden)

Zero

Zeras

Yamado

1. The sign on Yamado's Ramen Shop translates to "window!"
Yes, and this is what I get for using Google Translate for someone who lacks Japanese skills. I believe I was trying to say "Ramen" instead when I first worked on volume 1 and at the time, I was taking care of college, so my brain was all over the place... I plan to drop the Japanese in volume 2. But, I will keep that Japanese on the sign. Call it, "Window Ramen". Or maybe I'll adjust it.

2. What led you to create Yamado?
I randomly drew this guy in my second draft of SaGia because I had an idea of Jikiru and Haido liking ramen as their favorite food. The chapter where I started drawing him was the original draft of "My Name is Jikiru!". Jikiru gets mad when Yamado questions her and transforms into Haido. Haido goes berserk, destroys the place and leaves Lain behind. When I looked back at that second draft, I liked Yamado, so I adjusted his design and added him to the final draft.
